Bass Player

With a comprehensive CV including a full spectrum of genres, Paul forged a name as a session player in the early 1990's as in house bass player with Steve Levine (The Beach boys, The Clash, Ziggy Marley, XTC, Culture Club) which then led him onto working with numerous other producers and some of Londons top studios on various records which automatically opened doors for his extensive live and touring experience throughout the UK, USA & Europe. Paul was bass player/vocalist of Mobo award winning band Funky Beehive.

His passion for playing bass and energy “live” put him in the most talked about top UK Bass players in the late 90’s, with interviews as a Warwick bass endorsee in Bass player magazine and in 2012 a glowing article ‘Player Spotlight feature’ in worldwide online American magazine 'No Treble’.

Paul's versatile style from the studio session scene allowed him to tour in many different genres from: Rock, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Latin, Fusion, Hip Hop, Drum & Bass, Gospel and Motown.

Punkpappa has been producing for over a decade - arranging and producing for various artists as well as his own band/music. He is known for his fresh and innovative productions and remixes.

His remix style offers something bespoke and individual with groove based electro funk guitars, big basslines, parliament style synth melodies and deep in the pocket drum breaks.

Paul plays electric & acoustic guitar and piano/keys which is heard over much of his music.

Wonderlush

Paul was the musical director & producer of band Wonderlush bringing fresh innovative P-Funk fused sounds. A rollercoaster of funk was had with their EP in 2011, single releases ‘Swag’ & ‘Jam’ received great radio play, alongside collaborations & remixes with The Wideboys, album release ‘Music Satisfaction’ in 2015 with their tracks being used for US hit show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ and Australian TV and a series of live shows with their 10 piece funk band (including Craig Charles, Mamas Gun, The South London Soul Train, Proud- Camden, BBC introducing). Punkpappa and the band then went on to support one of their biggest inspirations George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic in London.
